Original Christmas Card Idea

It's still busy, busy, busy around here but I did manage to finish a christmas card with my original idea.

Its a small change but I love it and really wish I had the time to make them all like this originally.

Today is my son Seth's 2nd birthday party so I need to fly around the house cleaning and setting up. I can not wait for tomorrow for the house to go back to normal. Planning to post all my recent little projects I have been working on!

Its Been A VERY Busy Week!

Last Tuesday my son woke up with the stomach flu. I spent the day cuddling with him and struggling to keep his bedding clean. Wednesday was also spent that way. On Wednesday I got hit with the bug and spent that night and most of the next day in bed. Luckily my mom was able to come over and hang out with my little guy until his nap time and even luckier Tony got off work early and made it home before nap time was over.

While all of that was going on Tony has been opening up our attic. Yay! We have been in our house for about eight years with only a small crawl space under our stairs and our garage attic. Why have we lived like this? Well at first we didn't need much storage but now its a different story. On Sunday night he finally finished laying all the boards and now I have more storage space than I know what to do with!!

My new attic entrance!

All of my new attic storage will go a long way to organizing my home, no more closets cluttered with odd things that I just can't find a place to hide it. Since he started working on it I have been going from room to room cleaning out everything. So far I haven't found much to store except holiday and baby stuff. But I have gotten rid of a lot of garbage, put together a box of good will and gained extra space everywhere!!

Sunday was also my son's 2nd birthday!!! We spent the day enjoying him while he was awake and working on the attic while he was sleeping.

Yesterday was just as busy. We took our son for his 2 year check up. It was rough! His appointment was scheduled at his nap time, that didn't help at all. They were behind almost an hour....what else is new? The worst part started when they put us in the room... he started screaming as soon as the nurse closed the door and did not stop until we told him it was time to go home. He screamed for over half an poor baby. But on a good note today he is showing no signs of the flu bug and is starting to eat again! Hopefully this week will go better than the last.

My First Christmas Card

Right before Thanksgiving I had the idea to handmake my Christmas cards. Being my first time I thought it would be pretty quick and easy. If I start the weekend after Thanksgiving they will definately be ready to go out by the first week in December. HaHa they went out either the 15th or 16th. Not too bad but I was NOT thinking about everything else that would be going on. This year my goal is to be finished before October so that hopefully they will be ready by Thanksgiving.

On top of the rush to get them to the post office I didn't think of taking pictures or even saving one for myself until they were done and gone. But luckily last weekend one came back to me in the mail. So now I have pics of my first Christmas card!

I didn't really know much about card making so I just took the idea that I had and ran with it. The snowman is a clip art graphic (I had no clue at the time what digi stamps were). For the background I bought a snowflake stencil and did a layer with a dark blue distress ink and an overlapping layer with a medium blue stamp ink. Found the perfect ribbon to match at Michaels and added a snowflake sticker in the corner. The sticker was not my original plan. Hopefully tomorrow i can make another card with my original idea. That way I will have a hard copy of each.

New Year, New Blog, New Me

I have three big resolutions this year. So after thinking about it for almost a month now...i finally decided to start a blog to help me accomplish them.

One of my resolutions is to try something new. I recently tried my hand at cardmaking and loved it!  I started looking for inspiration and ideas online so I decided my "new" thing for the year would be to start a blog and get motivated to enter challenges and hopefully learn some new things along the way. I still have so much to learn!

Another is to expand my horizons and push myself to finally do all the projects I have been dreaming of making. My plan is to put all my painting, cardmaking, scrapbooking and craft ideas on here and then once I have them in writing I will have no choice but to make them.

And last but not least is to get organized and more importantly stay organized! Which is probably the hardest one cause I can get organized but its really hard to stay organized especially with a toddler running around. I'm thinking again if I put plans and goals in writing I might hold myself accountable.

I'm so excited for all the new things going on and have big dreams for what the future can bring.
